There are 168 hours in a single week.
And World in Conversation facilitates dialogues almost every hour of every week (157 hours to be exact).
We host at least 25 dialogues per day and on average 3,000 dialogues per year— each one meant to initiate collaborative critical thinking on topics that are timely and complex.
This makes us the largest university-based cross-cultural dialogue program in the world.
Our 90-minute dialogues led by facilitators-in-training are meant to be a "tiny act'' in a larger field of study and examination that is a Penn State education. If a participant leaves a dialogue with one new question, the process has been successful--because education that encourages questions is radical, and rare.
Not only have our participants come from all of the colleges at Penn State University Park and most of the Commonwealth campuses, they also join us online from universities and local organizations around the world--in China, Iran, Afghanistan, Colombia, Brazil, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Israel, the Palestinian Territories, Yemen, Germany, Italy, and Poland.
